Anti Doping Prohibited List

List of Prohibited Substances and Methods in force on 1 January 2022

The UCI reminds its National Federations that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2022 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods (the Prohibited List) will come into force on 1 January 2022. The Prohibited List designates what substances and methods are prohibited both in and out-of-competition.

While, ultimately, the athlete is responsible for knowing which substances and methods are on this list and for the substances present in his or her body, the UCI strongly encourages you to make sure that your members, in particular your athletes and their entourage are aware of the new 2022 Prohibited List.

As outlined in the 2022 Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes, the Major Modifications include the following:

S.9 Glucocorticoids (GCs)
As a reminder, as of 1 January 2022, GCs will be prohibited in-competition when administered by all injectable, oral, or rectal routes.  Examples of injectable routes of administration include: intravenous, intramuscular, periarticular, intra-articular, peritendinous, intratendinous, epidural, intrathecal, intrabursal, intralesional (e.g. intrakeloid), intradermal, and subcutaneous.

In order to assist Athletes and support personnel in their understanding of the new applicable regime to Glucocorticoids, WADA has developed a Guidance Document on Glucocorticoids and Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs).

S3. Beta-2 Agonists – Dosage of Salbutamol
Regarding salbutamol, the daily dosing time intervals are modified to 600 micrograms over eight hours starting from the time any dose is taken (previously 800 micrograms over 12 hours). This is to reduce the risk of any potential AAF arising after high doses are taken at once. The total permitted daily dose remains at 1,600 micrograms over 24 hours. A TUE should be sought for doses in excess of these limits.
